SCAG Awards ‘Student Showcase’ Winners for Excellence in Planning

2025 Student Showcase winners were announced on May 2 at SCAG's 2025 Regional Conference and General Assembly in Palm Desert, California. SCAG Regional Council President Cindy Allen presented awards to Princeton Brooke from the University of Southern California and Ada Liang from the University of California, Irvine in the Audience Award category as well as Laura Messier from the University of Southern California and Manasi Vartak from UCLA in the Jury Award category.
The SCAG Student Showcase challenges students to think innovatively and meaningfully to tell a story, provide insight, showcase plans and projects, engage supporters and stakeholders, illustrate the possibilities of data and highlight the usefulness of open data at the regional level.
In January, SCAG invited student participants to conceptualize, create, and submit ArcGIS StoryMaps and posters using SCAG’s open data. 2025 Student Showcase finalists were invited to attend the 2025 Regional Conference and General Assembly in Palm Desert as SCAG conference fellows to present their projects to the event’s attendees—900 elected officials, city and county officials, planners, and private-sector leaders. A jury of planning professionals and elected officials considered each submission for the Jury Award. Regional Conference and General Assembly attendees also voted for their favorite submissions to receive the Audience Award.
Congratulations to all 2025 Student Showcase winners and finalists for your hard work and achievements.
